SCARS™ Insight: President Trump’s Executive Order on Artificial Intelligence
On Feb. 11, President Trump Issued A New Executive Order Regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI).
One of the reasons why this is important to OUR community is that it brings a major focus on the topic of AI and its implementation. While the Federal Government does not presently have direct control over private sector AI used by Google or Facebook, it does bring a focus on control and especially privacy and security. This may lead to ever greater limitations on how social media companies can use AI and their development since it may conflict with National Interests. It also opens the door for Federal Regulatory control of these technologies now in use.
SCARS views this order as a very positive step in also helping to control this technology and keep it out of the hands of international criminal organizations.

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows:
Section 1. Policy and Principles. Artificial Intelligence (AI) promises to drive growth of the United States economy, enhance our economic and national security, and improve our quality of life.
