SCARS Scammer Preferencing Study

SCARS is conducting a long-term study of the ways that impersonation criminals preference the photos they select. It is important to understand why scammers choose the photos they do. Remember that these criminals select a limited number of images to be used in their impersonations and why they choose them can help both in training AI to recognize these choices and also alert victims about them when they see them in profiles and contacts online.

For example, we have learned that scammers are victims of their own cognitive biases just like their victims. They tend to select images that reflect what they believe will be disarming and trustworthy. Photos with animals, for example, trigger an amygdala hijack in their victims. Photos of people doing normal things tend to communicate that the people in those photos are normal and trustworthy. But those same biases in the criminals also lead them to select images that represent what they hope to accomplish, such as wealth, if you know what to look for.

Every stolen photo on this site is a part of this scholarly study and contributes to the volume of knowledge we obtain from them. To learn more about the current SCARS research visit study,AgainstScams.org To add photos that you have collected from these criminals to our work visit www.AnyScam.com

This Is A Perfect Example Of Why You Need To Preserve The Evidence

It is vital to never throw away the evidence of a crime. You never know when new opportunities may come up for refunds or tax deductions.

As we have seen over the years, surprise refund programs do happen and if you did not keep your evidence you could miss out.

It is also important to have the information about the crime well organized. This helps in reporting the crime but also going back – sometimes after years – to apply for refunds like this program might turn into. We recommend our SCARS RED BOOK crime organizer from shop.AgainstScams.org

Sorry Henry, but she is not a scammer. She is a victim herself and her images and identity have been used by criminals for nearly 2 decades. Regardless of what you believe, scammers steal people’s photos and their identity to scam others – period. No conspiracies, just criminality. We recommend seeing a trauma counselor to help you. I had not written that I had contact with Megan Qt, but with a “Jessica Thomas”. I thought that some data might be helpful to you, but I guess not. Here on your site are only pictures of Megan QT, with strange advice, and answers.
I’m not afraid of the “scammers”, because my comment should only be a help for you, so that you can do research.

Thank you for the information. The place to report it is in our SCARS|CDN reporting system here on this website or on http://www.Anyscam.com where it is distributed worldwide. Information can be useful in catching scammers depending on how much hard data you have, however, we are not a law enforcement agency, but we are partnered with agencies around the world from Thailand to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. If it is of any use we see that it is passed to those that can make use of it.

Hello, I am from Germany and my English is not good, so I would like to apologize if one or the other word is not spelled correctly.
Megan QT gave me four weeks of friend requests on Facebook this April, under the name Jessica Thomas. I usually ignore friend requests from people I don’t know. But she was very persistent, so I answered her request with yes. First we wrote with “Facebook – Messenger”, and about four weeks later and up to now we write on WhatsApp. Her phone number: +1 (740) 334-6850. We also had several visual contacts on Google Hangouts. After a short time, when our conversation shifted to WhatsApp, “Jessica Thomas” deleted her account on Facebook. In the meantime I searched a lot about her on the internet, know her real name, and found her under the name “Megan QT”. Before that I had never heard about ” Megan QT”.
The pictures here, and hundreds more, can be found on the internet, on legal sites. I can write more, but that should be enough to start with. She has a new account on Facebook, again with the name Jessica Thomas, lives in Kabul (very important), and is from Los Angeles. These are the same data where she wrote to me. The strange thing is, the pictures there were uploaded much earlier, without me being able to find this account

Megan Qt is not the people you were connected with. You were talking with scammers in Africa. The real woman lives in the U.S. We suggest that you read this article to help you begin the process of getting over this: https://againstscams.org/for-new-scam-victims-the-3-steps/

Hi Frank, I just ended an online relationship with an Elizabeth Mitrano (aka Megan QT) she also said she goes by Becky. We had a 4 month relationship going. First it was just txting back and forth on just basic stuff. Then about a month in she was using an excuse that she had a old crappy phone. Eventually we made a date to meet and go to a college football game. She said her phone was constantly having phone issues and she said if I could help her out she could get a new phone. So I ended up buying her a brand new phone ($740.00)
then a few days later she said she was going to Detroit, Michigan to see her mom who was in the hospital dealing with breast cancer. Megan said she had got word from her Uncle that her mom wasn’t doing good and also he wanted to talk to her about some documents he received from a lawyer. So she flew to Detroit to see her mom and met up with her uncle. He gave her documents on property (2 farms) her late dad had in the west Africa country of Ghana. Well she left for that country on Nov. 8th and is supposedly still there.
I’ve been an idiot by sending her money to supposedly help her with expenses and taxes that are on these properties that been over $8,000 dollars. Her story has had a lot of holes in it and I constantly would question her about what was going on but she seemed to have answers for everything. But things didn’t click with me so I would ask her questions that I could go on line and find out if they were truths or not. The thing is she would entice me with promises of being financially set because of all the money she would make by selling these farms. She was always telling me that she loved me and couldn’t wait for us to be together and all the things we were going to do when she would return Africa. Also she was constantly sending me pics of her, 100 s of them and most all of them were very provocative. I was always asking her who took those pics and her answer was it was her Aunt or niece or herself. Well finally I got wise and did a picture search and then thats when I found out her name she goes by Megan QT, and wow I was shocked and broken hearted because showed that she was a porn star and an escort. She has her own website and a sex webcam site and thousands and thousands of semi & nude pics. Megan has been around quite a bit. Megan has been in the business for 20 yrs.
I have been doing a lot of research on her, she has numerous emails & phone numbers along with alias names and past addresses along with a false passport. I have a few names that are connected to her but not quite sure her real name.
      [EDITED TO REMOVE PROHIBITED CONTENT]

      • SCARS Editorial Team January 1, 2022 at 12:06 am - Reply

Daniel, Megan does not live in Ghana and SHE is not a scammer, just an adult video star or was. The photos were stolen and use thousands of time with thousands of different names. Please report the email addresses and phones number that were used. Every report matters.

I’ve been messing around with a bunch of scammers on Google hangouts, and I can tell some of them are working together, and some of them are the same person. I have been acting like I have no clue as to what they are doing. I’ve been slowly collecting their information. phone numbers, home addresses, e-mail addresses, and new pics that nobody else has seen yet. so I can post them so people don’t get fooled into thinking these girls are good people when the photo shows no results
