A Fake Kevin O’Leary Pig Butchering Scam – Another Celebrity Impersonation Luring in Scam Victims
We were recently contacted by “Kevin O’Leary” on LinkedIn, to congratulate our Managing Director for an accomplishment,
a “Kevin O’Leary” asked to connect on Telegram, so we did.
He immediately moved to the topic of Crypto Investing. Obviously, this was an impersonation, it was a scam but this was an opportunity to hear the pitch.
A Pig Butchering Scam
A pig butchering scam is a sophisticated and manipulative fraud technique where victims are “fattened up” over time before being financially exploited. The scam typically begins with scammers posing as friendly or romantic connections, often through social media, dating apps, or messaging platforms. They invest weeks or months building trust and emotional bonds with the victim, sharing stories and creating a false sense of intimacy. Once trust is established, the scammer introduces the victim to a seemingly lucrative investment opportunity, such as cryptocurrency or foreign exchange trading. These schemes are carefully designed to appear legitimate, often involving fake websites or apps that show fabricated profits. Victims are encouraged to invest increasingly large sums, only to discover that their money is irretrievably lost when the scammer vanishes. The name “pig butchering” comes from the analogy of “fattening” the victim with trust and promises before “slaughtering” them financially.
Here is what we were told by ‘Kevin O’Leary’:
Kevin O’Leary: I’m excited to connect with some of my amazing followers here. Vehicles are not really my kind of view, but it’s definitely a profiting experience I imagine. I’m curious, are you familiar with the digital asset space? Let’s share our experiences and insights!
SCARS REPLY: Can I ask something about shark tank? do you think that the anti Trump politics is gonna have an impact on that show?
Kevin O’Leary: The anti-Trump political climate is unlikely to have a direct impact on Shark Tank, as the show focuses on entrepreneurship and generally avoids political themes, appealing to a broad audience. However, if cast members or producers publicly take strong political stances, it could influence viewership depending on audience reactions. I, for instance, has been vocal on certain political topics, but the show’s core premise of supporting innovation and business likely keeps it insulated from significant political fallout.
Kevin O’Leary: When I say digital assets I’m referring to crypto and blockchain technology generally.
There are actually a lot of opportunities in the digital space at this moment. This is one of the best times to be focused on building a legacy, earning money from our passion, and utilizing the opportunities presented.Kevin O’Leary: Are you opened to new opportunities?
Kevin O’Leary: Well I’m currently involved in an innovation crypto investment program within the digital space that has really been successful. This initiative serves as a platform for both learning and expansion, requiring an initial investment capital for potential weekly or monthly returns. It operates through our affiliate trade Broker that aligns seamlessly with our overall strategy. It’s basically a learn and earn setup where you get access to toptier traders from around the world, sharing live market insights and placing high leverage trades. The key is having the right tools, the right knowledge, and the right team. This is what separates the winners from the losers.
The community has been benefiting from this program.
If you’re serious about crypto, this is the kind of thing you want to get involved in. It’s about making informed decisions. I highly recommend this if you’re looking to start investing in crypto with minimal risk involved.SCARS: Do you have the links?
Kevin O’Leary: Yeah sure ! Predicting future market trends is challenging, even for seasoned experts. That’s why it’s crucial to stay informed, diversify investments, and make well-considered financial decisions. This program is designed to align with these principles, making it an excellent fit for every investment strategy.
The platform we utilize offers a unique feature: each user receives a connection key that allows them to link directly to trading terminals. I currently manage a terminal on the platform, focusing primarily on cryptocurrency trades. Our system is designed to identify and execute the most promising trades based on your account’s capital size, ensuring optimal performance.Kevin O’Leary: By connecting your account to the terminal, you’ll benefit from the trades executed daily on our terminal. ThThis guarantees a wining rate of 88% . Our model operates on a performance-based fee structure, with a 5% commission on profits earned. There are no advisory fees, ensuring that we are aligned with your success.
Kevin O’Leary: This approach allows you to take part in a dynamic and potentially profitable market, backed by expert trading strategies and a focus on transparency and performance. Once you sign up and make a deposit, we can proceed to connect your trade account to the terminal. To get started, sign up for an account on the trading platform we utilize that’s compatible with our strategies. Https://TrustTradeFin.io/
This shows how professional they have become. Of course, this was a script the scammer was following, not written in the moment.
It is so important not to take any investment advice from someone online no matter who you think they are. The real Kevin O’Leary would never give investment advice online like this because of regulations and liability.
We have had the LinkedIn profile removed.

A Note About Labeling!
We often use the term ‘scam victim’ in our articles, but this is a convenience to help those searching for information in search engines like Google. It is just a convenience and has no deeper meaning. If you have come through such an experience, YOU are a Survivor! It was not your fault. You are not alone! Axios!
A Question of Trust
At the SCARS Institute, we invite you to do your own research on the topics we speak about and publish, Our team investigates the subject being discussed, especially when it comes to understanding the scam victims-survivors experience. You can do Google searches but in many cases, you will have to wade through scientific papers and studies. However, remember that biases and perspectives matter and influence the outcome. Regardless, we encourage you to explore these topics as thoroughly as you can for your own awareness.
Statement About Victim Blaming
SCARS Institute articles examine different aspects of the scam victim experience, as well as those who may have been secondary victims. This work focuses on understanding victimization through the science of victimology, including common psychological and behavioral responses. The purpose is to help victims and survivors understand why these crimes occurred, reduce shame and self-blame, strengthen recovery programs and victim opportunities, and lower the risk of future victimization.
At times, these discussions may sound uncomfortable, overwhelming, or may be mistaken for blame. They are not. Scam victims are never blamed. Our goal is to explain the mechanisms of deception and the human responses that scammers exploit, and the processes that occur after the scam ends, so victims can better understand what happened to them and why it felt convincing at the time, and what the path looks like going forward.
Articles that address the psychology, neurology, physiology, and other characteristics of scams and the victim experience recognize that all people share cognitive and emotional traits that can be manipulated under the right conditions. These characteristics are not flaws. They are normal human functions that criminals deliberately exploit. Victims typically have little awareness of these mechanisms while a scam is unfolding and a very limited ability to control them. Awareness often comes only after the harm has occurred.
By explaining these processes, these articles help victims make sense of their experiences, understand common post-scam reactions, and identify ways to protect themselves moving forward. This knowledge supports recovery by replacing confusion and self-blame with clarity, context, and self-compassion.
