A Model for How To Recover Cryptocurrency Using Civil Litigation
We know that most scam victims desperately want to recover their money. their cryptocurrency, but reliance on law enforcement and prosecutors is proving more and more challenging even while the amounts recovered is increasing year after year. But perhaps this is a model that can be used by private attorneys to play a more direct role in money recovery.

U.S. Attorney Action
The COMPLAINT FOR FORFEITURE [PDF] was filed successfully by the United States Department of Justice.
It is provided to help victims and their attorneys determine if there is a case to be made for their recovery.
We suggest that you ask your attorney to review this case document to see if it might apply to your case.
Money Recovery
While this looks to be a model that can be used by both government and private individuals, there are some important considerations:
- This process will cost scam victims who will have to fund this activity.
- Scam Victims will have to find and hire a reputable licensed investigation service provider who is certified in cryptocurrency tracing. It has to be traced so your attorney and the court know what can be seized.
- Hire a licensed attorney who is experienced in asset recovery. Some may do this on a contingency basis but many will not and have to be paid in advance.
- Your law enforcement, prosecutors, and courts will do this for free! Assuming they will do it. You are better off applying pressure on them to move on your case before you hire private services. Do not be pressured into making expensive decisions.
