Her Message:

How was your day?.mine was cool over here in Burkina-Faso.
My name is Marlin Tayeb the only child of Mr Tayeb El , I am  single from Libya and presently i am residing in the refugee camp here in Burkina-Faso as a result of the civil war in my country Libya.

My late father Mr Tayeb El Safi was the personal assistant to the ex Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi but was assassinated by the rebels during the civil war and properties destroyed and i managed to make my way to near by country Burkina Faso where i am leaving now as a refugee under the (UNHCR).

Honestly my day’s is not so Good since i came over here in Burkina Faso In this prison called refugee camp. Its just like one staying in the prison and i hope by Gods grace i will come out here soon.

I don’t have any relatives now whom i can go to all my relatives ran away in the middle of the war the only person i have now is Rev.Donald petters who is the pastor of the (Christ for all Churches) here in the camp he has been very nice to me since i came here but i am not living with him rather i am leaving in the women’s hostel because the camp have two hostels one for men the other for women.

The Pastors Tel number is +226-64816396 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting            +226-64816396      end_of_the_skype_highlighting if you call tell him that you want to speak with me he will send for me in the hostel. As a refugee here i don’t have any right or privilege to any thing be it money or whatever because it is against the law of this country.I want to go back to my studies because i only attended my first year before the tragic incident that lead to my being in this situation now took place.

Please listen to this,i have my late father’s statement of account and death certificate here with me which i will send to you latter, because when he was alive he deposited some amount of money in a leading bank here in Burkina-Faso which he used my name as the next of kin,the amount in question is $9.7M(Nine millon seven Hundred Thousand Dollars) So i will like you to help me transfer this money to your account and from it you can send some money for me to get my traveling documents and air ticket to come over to meet with you.

I kept this secret to people in the camp here the only person that knows about it is the Reverend because he is like a father to me.So in the light of above i will like you to keep it to yourself and don’t tell it to anyone for i am afraid of loosing my life and the money if people gets to know about it.Remember i am giving you all this information due to the trust i deposed on you.I like honest and understanding people, truthful and a man of vision, truth and hardworking. My favorite language is English but our language is french but i speak English very fluently. Meanwhile i will like you to call me like i said i have a lot to tell you.
    Have a nice day.
Awaiting to hear from you soonest, attached here are my Photo

    Yours
    Marlin

A Note About Labeling!

We often use the term ‘scam victim’ in our articles, but this is a convenience to help those searching for information in search engines like Google. It is just a convenience and has no deeper meaning. If you have come through such an experience, YOU are a Survivor! It was not your fault. You are not alone! Axios!

A Question of Trust

At the SCARS Institute, we invite you to do your own research on the topics we speak about and publish, Our team investigates the subject being discussed, especially when it comes to understanding the scam victims-survivors experience. You can do Google searches but in many cases, you will have to wade through scientific papers and studies. However, remember that biases and perspectives matter and influence the outcome. Regardless, we encourage you to explore these topics as thoroughly as you can for your own awareness.

Statement About Victim Blaming

Some of our articles discuss various aspects of victims. This is both about better understanding victims (the science of victimology) and their behaviors and psychology. This helps us to educate victims/survivors about why these crimes happened and to not blame themselves, better develop recovery programs, and to help victims avoid scams in the future. At times this may sound like blaming the victim, but it does not blame scam victims, we are simply explaining the hows and whys of the experience victims have.

These articles, about the Psychology of Scams or Victim Psychology – meaning that all humans have psychological or cognitive characteristics in common that can either be exploited or work against us – help us all to understand the unique challenges victims face before, during, and after scams, fraud, or cybercrimes. These sometimes talk about some of the vulnerabilities the scammers exploit. Victims rarely have control of them or are even aware of them, until something like a scam happens and then they can learn how their mind works and how to overcome these mechanisms.

Articles like these help victims and others understand these processes and how to help prevent them from being exploited again or to help them recover more easily by understanding their post-scam behaviors. Learn more about the Psychology of Scams at www.ScamPsychology.org
