Double Victimization: How Money Recovery Scammer Comments Exploit Desperate Scam Victims on Social Media

How Scams Work – A SCARS Institute Insight

Article Abstract

Money recovery scams on social media target individuals who have already lost money to scams, exploiting their desperation to recover their funds. These scammers leave comments under posts about fraud, posing as people who successfully retrieved their money with the help of a “recovery specialist.”

In reality, these are deceptive tactics designed to lure victims into paying more fees or giving up sensitive information. The comments tell fabricated success stories to gain trust, but their sole purpose is to victimize people a second time, preying on their hope and vulnerability in an already difficult situation.

Double Victimization: How Money Recovery Scammer Comments Exploit Desperate Scam Victims on Social Media

WARNING: Social Media Ads Paid For By Scammers With Stolen Money - 2024

Money recovery scams have become a widespread tactic on social media, targeting individuals who have already suffered financial losses in online scams, such as fake investment schemes. These scams prey on the desperation of victims looking to recover their money, promising quick and guaranteed recovery of lost funds in exchange for additional fees or sensitive personal information. Often, these posts appear as comments under articles, videos, or social media posts related to scams, designed to look like testimonials from people who “recovered” their money with the help of a so-called recovery specialist.

These comments typically feature stories of massive financial losses followed by a miraculous recovery, supposedly facilitated by a “reliable” and “trustworthy” hacker or recovery service. In reality, these are simply scams aiming to victimize people a second time. By leveraging a victim’s hope and vulnerability, recovery scammers lure them into another financial trap, further compounding their losses and emotional distress. The recovery scam comments appear highly convincing, complete with fabricated stories of success, but they are designed to exploit, not assist.

Hackers with special skills can sometimes get back lost Bitcoin. These are skills that only a few professional hackers have. There are a lot of healing websites, but you should be careful because 99% of them are run by con artists who make them look real. He can be reached by email at expresshacker99[at]gmail[dot]com or by Telegram message at @btcblueprint.

ACTUAL SCAM COMMENT:

So disheartening to know that people can be so wicked to their fellow humans. I had experienced this in a rather awful way, I had fallen prey to a phishing email sent to the email address that I used in creating my Binance account. The email looked real and convincing. They had even masked the From email header so it looked like the email came from the original Binance official email account. They claimed my account had a security vulnerability that can lead to my crypto funds getting stolen by potential attackers. On hearing this, I quickly followed the steps that were included in the email message body. I had provided them my credentials to my Binance, and guess what….. Yeah… You got it, my whole crypto portfolio totaling $86k was swiped empty. I almost committed the unthinkable, but I later got connected to a recovery agent who specializes in crypto recovery. I didn’t believe it would yield any success, but to my surprise, the crypto recovery agency started tracking and tracing the funds on the blockchain and they were able to recover back $67k. They saved my life, so I owe it all to recoveryhacker101-Expert for helping me when all hope was lost. I can’t help but think that there are quite a several people out there who have lost their crypto funds one way or the other. You can reach out to the same agency that helped me, their contact info is recoveryhacker101@gmailcom. Don’t lose hope yet.

ACTUAL SCAM COMMENT:

Two weeks ago I unintentionally fell for a cryptocurrency fraud. A Facebook imposter tricked me into believing I would make a lot of money from a legitimate cryptocurrency organization that assisted traders in making big investments through phishing scams. They conned me and stole $130,000 worth of cryptocurrency. This was money I had worked so hard to obtain, so I was both uncomfortable and in astonishment. Upon perusing affirmative articles and testimonials on the internet. I came across Recovery Hacker101, a licensed group specializing in bitcoin recovery and all hacking related services. Upon initiating a dialogue with them, they managed to retrieve my scammed funds. This firm is the best I can prefer to a scam victim. Make contact via: recoveryhacker101[@]gmail[dot]com

All of them are too good to be true and try to convey urgency. Plus there are a lot of typos, grammar mistakes, and the contact information seems too informal.

A Note About Labeling!

We often use the term ‘scam victim’ in our articles, but this is a convenience to help those searching for information in search engines like Google. It is just a convenience and has no deeper meaning. If you have come through such an experience, YOU are a Survivor! It was not your fault. You are not alone! Axios!

A Question of Trust

At the SCARS Institute, we invite you to do your own research on the topics we speak about and publish, Our team investigates the subject being discussed, especially when it comes to understanding the scam victims-survivors experience. You can do Google searches but in many cases, you will have to wade through scientific papers and studies. However, remember that biases and perspectives matter and influence the outcome. Regardless, we encourage you to explore these topics as thoroughly as you can for your own awareness.

Statement About Victim Blaming

Some of our articles discuss various aspects of victims. This is both about better understanding victims (the science of victimology) and their behaviors and psychology. This helps us to educate victims/survivors about why these crimes happened and to not blame themselves, better develop recovery programs, and to help victims avoid scams in the future. At times this may sound like blaming the victim, but it does not blame scam victims, we are simply explaining the hows and whys of the experience victims have.

These articles, about the Psychology of Scams or Victim Psychology – meaning that all humans have psychological or cognitive characteristics in common that can either be exploited or work against us – help us all to understand the unique challenges victims face before, during, and after scams, fraud, or cybercrimes. These sometimes talk about some of the vulnerabilities the scammers exploit. Victims rarely have control of them or are even aware of them, until something like a scam happens and then they can learn how their mind works and how to overcome these mechanisms.

Articles like these help victims and others understand these processes and how to help prevent them from being exploited again or to help them recover more easily by understanding their post-scam behaviors. Learn more about the Psychology of Scams at www.ScamPsychology.org
