SCARS™ Scam News: Ukraine Fraudsters Cheated American Woman For $1.5 Million Dollars
As a result of the joint operation, this year by the Security Service of Ukraine and the USA Federal Bureau of Investigations, a group of fraudsters have been arrested in Kyiv.
The young men were from Africa and created fake accounts in a social media network – specifically Facebook. They pretended to be a businessman from the USA, who was working and living in Ukraine.
Using the strategy that the “businessman” became acquainted with women from the USA; they had established an online relationship – a typical romance scam. At the moment when she started to trust him, the dating scammers asked the women for help. The fake businessman would tell her about his problems with Ukrainian policemen who would not allow him to return to the U.S.
Of course, he would need money to buy his way home. So the enamored woman (who was scammed) transferred to his bank account sum in $ 1.5 million.
During the Joint Operation, Ukrainian Police seized computers, phones, and special equipment, as well as bank documents that confirm receipt of money.

FAQ: How Do You Properly Report Scammers?
It is essential that law enforcement knows about scams & scammers, even though there is nothing (in most cases) that they can do.
Always report scams involving money lost or where you received money to:
- Local Police – ask them to take an “informational” police report – say you need it for your insurance
- Your National Police or FBI (www.IC3.gov)
- The SCARS|CDN™ Cybercriminal Data Network – Worldwide Reporting Network HERE or on www.Anyscam.com
This helps your government understand the problem, and allows law enforcement to add scammers on watch lists worldwide.
