Relationship Scam Victims experient an intense emotional trauma resulting from the deep connection they form with the fake relationship and then having it ripped away. This trauma is very similar to the loss of a real loved one.

It can result in grief and profound trauma. A person can go through the stages of grief but trauma does not just go away, and most victims need support to recover from this trauma.

Unfortunately, victims often gravitate to the wrong kind of help in the form of amateur ant-scam hate groups online or they allow their own anger to take control. This often turns into semi-permanent denial or rage.
