Kidnapping Scam Simulator
Please Read Before You Begin
This is a text adventure about kidnapping scams, in which criminals claim to be holding someone you love and demand money for their release. Each scene tells you what is happening, and you choose what to do from a list of answers. There is nothing to type and no time limit.
This simulator contains intense and distressing material. It includes:
- Phone calls and messages with screaming, crying, and threats of harm against a loved one and against your family.
- Sustained fear, pressure, and demands for money.
- A claim, in some paths, that the person being held was killed.
Nothing is described graphically, and no one in this story is ever actually harmed. The person who is "taken" is always an adult, and every path ends with the truth. Still, the fear these scams create is real, and parts of this story will feel very real.
A Take a Break button stays at the top of every scene. Use it any time to pause, steady yourself, or end the simulator. Nothing is lost by stepping away. This simulator saves nothing and sends nothing, and the money in it is make-believe.
If you are in crisis right now, or have thoughts of ending your life, please do not play. In the United States, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call your local emergency number.
