Romance Scams — Romance scams use a fabricated or deceptive romantic relationship to obtain money, information, access, or other benefits. Criminals build emotional trust before introducing requests, emergencies, investment opportunities, or other forms of exploitation. The relationship itself is part of the criminal method rather than evidence that the victim consented to the deception.
