Network-Based Intrusion Detection System (IDS) — A network-based intrusion detection system examines network traffic for signs of attacks or unauthorized activity. It can compare traffic with known patterns or identify unusual behavior. Alerts provide information for investigation, although visibility can be limited by encryption and sensor placement.
