# SCAM WARNING: Don’t Private Message Strangers!

# SCAM WARNING: Don't Private Message Strangers!

## "Hello, Please Message Me, It's Important"

Frequently, you will find people say in a comment someplace that they need to tell you something. Don't Do It!

Scammers are finding that victims are increasing smarter about accepting friend requests and other more overt forms of contact on social media. So one of the tactics they use is simply to post a comment in a place you go saying they have something important to tell you or they want to share something!

### Just remember, you are here because you haven't always used the best judgment when talking to strangers. Now you need to be ever more careful - everywhere!

Recently, a Scammer using the name "**Susan Channing**" has been attempting to get victims to private message her in the comments on various anti-scam social media pages, websites, and more. Regardless of what name, be warned! Never fall for this trap.

## Never Respond To A Comment On Any Page Like That

If someone asks you to private message them NEVER trust them. You should even be caution about the pages or websites themselves.

### No matter who it is, you simply cannot afford to trust ANYONE online until you verify and observe over time.

## So remember TRUST NO ONE ONLINE!

Especially someone who pops up in comments asking anyone to private message them! If something can be said, it can be said in public.

### FAQ: How Do You Properly Report Scammers?

It is essential that law enforcement knows about scams & scammers, even though there is nothing (in most cases) that they can do.

**Always report scams involving money lost or where you received money to:**

1. **Local Police** - ask them to take an "informational" police report - say you need it for your insurance
2. Your **National Police or FBI** ([www.IC3.gov](http://www.IC3.gov))
3. The **Scars Worldwide Reporting Network** [HERE](https://www.romancescamsnow.com/how-to-report-scammers-fraudsters/) or on [www.Anyscam.com](http://www.Anyscam.com)

This helps your government understand the problem, and allows law enforcement to add scammers on watch lists worldwide.
