Fake recruiters, fake jobs, and fake paychecks · A SCARS Institute text adventure

## Before You Begin

This is a text adventure, in the spirit of the classic computer games. Each scene tells you what is happening, and you choose what to do from a list of answers. There is nothing to type and no time limit, so take each step at your own pace.

The story follows the real path of an employment scam: a fake recruiter, a fake job, and a fake paycheck. Some job scams take your money, some take your identity, and some take both. Resist it, give in to it, or do some of each, and see where each choice leads. A panel at the top tracks your money and what the scammers have on you.

**A note for survivors.** If you have lost money or your identity to a job scam, parts of this story will feel familiar. You are free to stop at any time. Nothing here is about blame: these criminals copy real companies and real hiring steps, and they deceive careful, capable people every day.

This simulator saves nothing and sends nothing. It runs entirely in your browser, and the money and personal details in it are make-believe.
