SCARS IS RE-REGISTERING ITS CORPORATION TO BETTER SERVE VICTIMS

SCARS is pleased to announce that it has re-registered its corporation to accommodate changes in both status and state of incorporation to better prepare for full U.S. 501(C)(3) nonprofit status.

SCARS has changed its registration to the State of Delaware, United States, to facilitate completion and qualification for its new status allowing it to take full advantage of new opportunities for government funding to better assist online crime victims and play a much larger role in government advocacy.

In addition, SCARS has undergone a name change from “Society of Citizens Against Romance Scams Inc.” to “Society of Citizens Against Relationship Scams Incorporated”. Both terms will remain trademarks of SCARS including SCARS itself, and the one will remain as a DBA of the other. This name change reflects the changing nature of relationship scams from the focus on romance scams to all forms of relationship and social engineering scams targeting individuals of all ages as well as businesses.

We will also be announcing the new Board of Directors within the next couple of weeks as is our commitment to transparency. The board will include members from the United States, China, Singapore, and we have invited members from Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Mexico, and the Netherlands to provide the best cross-national representation on our board of directors to best serve international victims of relationship scams and allow for expanded government cooperation in the analysis, identification, and apprehend relationship scam cybercriminals.

As a result of these changes, it will facilitate a much closer relationship with the United States government, expanding on our partnerships with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Justice, as well as additional government agencies in the United States and in other countries.

The SCARS main website will be off for a few days to facilitate these changes and will be back up on December 10, 2018. This will not affect Anyscam.com or RomanceScamsNow.com

Dr. McGuinness will retain his position as President & Chief Operating Officer, and Chairman of SCARS, with the full Board of Directors to be announced within a week. We will be adding Mr. Tshua from Singapore and Ms. Zhang from China to our Board. More information and bios for each will be shared later.

We will announce more details as they emerge over the next few weeks in our transformation.
