SCARS™ Analysis Of 2017 – 2018 Romance Scamming Seasons

Be watchful all year but especially in the fourth quarter

SCARS™ Analysis shows that scamming peaks in the 4th calendar quarter of the year and is lowest during the summer. This is attributed to victims being on vacation in the summer and also the extremely hot weather in the scamming countries near the equator. 4th quarter scamming increases are attributed to the emotional availability of victims during the year-end holidays. This is based on data from social media activity, website visits, scammer reporting, search traffic, and other activity derived data.

FAQ: How Do You Properly Report Scammers?

It is essential that law enforcement knows about scams & scammers, even though there is nothing (in most cases) that they can do.

Always report scams involving money lost or where you received money to:

  1. Local Police – ask them to take an “informational” police report – say you need it for your insurance
  2. Your National Police or FBI (www.IC3.gov)
  3. The Scars Worldwide Reporting Network HERE or on www.Anyscam.com

This helps your government understand the problem, and allows law enforcement to add scammers on watch lists worldwide.
